TO GIVE YOU THE TIME OF DAY

　the time of dayは、もちろん「時刻」あるいは「（そのときの）情勢」であるが、普通は否定構文で「最小限の注意」という意味がある。

　たとえば、次のような形で使われる。

　"She is a very popular girl and has her pick of boys."
