TO MAKE A GO

　『日めくり現代英語帳』下巻」8月14日のレッスンで、to give it a goという表現を紹介した。　

　今日のGetUpEnglishでは、to make a goという表現を学習する。　

　to make a goで、「……を成功させる」。

　"Do you think the Takemotos will make a go of their new restaurant in Daikanyama, Emi?"

　"Yes, I do, Mr. Powell. We had the yummiest meal at their restaurant last week."

　「英美、竹本さんご夫妻が代官山に新しいレストランを開いたんだけど、成功すると思う？」　

　「うん、パウエルさん、思います。先週、そのレストランで、これ以上ないおいしい食事をしました」

　「そのとおりだ。そして幸治おじさんが1945年に生まれて、父さんが2年後に同じ場所で生まれたんだ」
