TO WESTERNIZE, TO EASTERNIZE

　本日のGetUpEnglishでは、「西洋化される」「東洋化される」という表現を学習する。　

　まずは、to westernize（西洋化）から。

　"Many Japanese people have become westernized. Some of them cannot even speak proper Japanese any more."

  "The Ministry of Education should give high priority to our Japanese education."

　「多くの日本人は、西洋化されてしまいました。中には、日本語を十分に話せない方もいます」　

  「文科省は、日本における日本語教育を最優先するべきです」

   文科省は、The Ministry of Education.

●Extra Point

　「東洋化する」は、to easternizeだ。

　"Prof. Kamioka suggests that some American writers have become 'easternized' due to the influence of great Japanese authors in the postwar era. Yeah."

　"Writers like Mishima, Tanizaki, Oe and Murakami have had great influence on the American literary scene."

　「いかにも。三島や谷崎や大江や、そして村上のような作家は、アメリカ文学に大変な影響を与えています」

　westernizeもeasterizeも、Westernize, Easternizeと大文字で表記することもあるので、注意。
