来週ネパールでNPO法人が作った小学校の贈呈式が行われます。そこでもし私がNPO法人を代表してスピーチをすることになれば次のような話をしようと思い原稿を作りました。
すこし気障ですが、英語のスピーチとは大袈裟なものなのでそこはご容赦を。
This year’s Nobel Peace Prize will be awarded to two people in South Asia where your country locates.I am sure you are proud of these persons because they are your neighbors.
Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yousafzay have struggled against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education.
As for Malala, despite her youth, she has fought for several years for the right of girls to education. Malala has stressed “ girls education”. Because under the Taliban autocracy, girls education had been suppressed particularly.
She doesn't make light of boys' one.
She said that education is the fundamental right of every child. If a nation wants to prosper, it should not leave behind the basic sword of education.
You may have heard her words. “One child, one teacher, one book ,one pen can change the world.”
These days the fear of terrorism caused by extremists threatens the world. Some developed countries take hard stance like bombing terrorist’s military bases.
However I think we will not reach final solution by using military power alone. Developed countries have to contribute something to resolve fundamental problems. I think it will be achieved by providing educational opportunity and job opportunity.
We are very happy to have a chance to join this initiative by constructing a new school house for you.
